This past Saturday, the Renegades headed out to the absolutely beautiful, gorgeous hidden gem of a city known as Harrisburg PA.
11am saw the Renegades hit the goose-poop free Harrisburg pitch. As soon as the whistle blew, Harrisburg was ready. Within ten minutes they had scored two tries, and the Renegade defense struggled to keep up. Harrisburg was aggressive and confident, so confident in fact that they consistently sent multiple forwards into rucks that turned into egregious piles of goose-poop that the ref failed to penalize. The combination of a poorly controlled game along with mistakes from the Renegades–such as missing tackles and passes–made it extra difficult for them to take back control of the game.
There were still some good moments throughout. Vice-Captain Nikki B did a fantastic job with line outs on both offense and defense, consistently messing with the Harrisburg forwards and putting them on their back feet. A cute little pop pass from flanker Amaya to center Leah F. Berry also resulted in some points on the scoreboard for the Renegades. The game also finished on a high note when lock Julie broke through the Harrisburg defense and scored a try in the final play.
So overall, some major lessons to be learned. Loss has a bitter taste, but with enough fire in the belly the Renegades can bounce back. They have NE Philly this upcoming Saturday and are EXTRA hungry now for that W.
