Upcoming Event:  Ireland Tour

A robust touring party of (at last count) 86 current and former players will depart Newark Airport on March 14th for the 50th Anniversary Tour to Dublin.  Both the men’s and women’s sides have friendlies scheduled – the women on 3/16 and the men on 3/17 after which all will help the Irish to celebrate St. Patrick’s weekend in Dublin!

Best of luck to both sides on the pitch, and to all for a memorable trip.

Merchandise:  The 50th Anniversary Store is Open

After some commendable work by the Merchandise Committee and MRFC Webmaster Jeff Petz, the Monmouth Rugby 50th Anniversary Store is open for business.  The Grand Opening was kicked off with a Flash Sale offering 20% off on our 50th Anniversary Hats, which are offered along with a selection of T-shirts, hoodies, commemorative bricks, and whatever else crosses our minds as the year progresses.

Yearbook Project Cancelled

Based on insufficient response to our Yearbook Interest survey (see Newsletter #8, dated 1/24), the hardcover Yearbook project has been cancelled.  We received 42 positive responses to our solicitation of likely purchasers, short of the 100 we needed to make the project work financially.

A number of individuals suggested that an online version of the project could reduce cost and complexity, while offering the option of periodic updates over time – more of a living history.  Thanks to Ann Barford, Jack Heidelberger, Kate Kelly, and Jim Shaw for planting the seed of the idea. Now we hope to identify some people who would like to get together to discuss the idea further. If you would like to participate, please click here to let us know
