Congrats to our Renegades playing for EU Rugby Select Side

Congratulations to our EU RUGBY Select Side team for pulling out a 15-14 W yesterday! So proud of our Renegades who showed up and kicked some major butt. They had a great time playing alongside other clubs in the region! Looking forward to the next one.

EGU Women’s Select Side Tops NYRC D1 in 15s Matchup

On Saturday March 19th, for the first time since Summer 2017, the EGU Women’s Select side assembled for a 15s match up with NYRC D1.

As the EGU side got to know each other a bit better on the field in the first half, the scoreline was dominated by NYRC, 14-0, due to two blocked kicks that were returned for converted tries. The chemistry clicked in the second half, and Precious Cummings (Village Lions, Center) touched down for the first EGU try. Precious had a fantastic day making multiple hard running lines that helped put the team in great scoring position.

After a number of hard grinding phases, Katie Duca (Union, Second Row), punched over the try line for the second EGU try. The scoreline remained 14-10 to NYRC as the final minutes ticked on. The team remained patient, and during what the referee called “last play,” Gabby Dixon (New Haven, Center), carried multiple defenders over the line to secure the 15-14 win. 

While every player contributed to a fantastic team effort, the day was highlighted with a speedy chase down and try-saving tackle by Deanna Kaufmann (Morris, Wing), huge tackles by Nikki Campbell (New Haven, Flanker) and Jordyn Marlin (Union, Wing), strong running lines from Tyff Brisbane (New Haven, Flanker), Brianna Soemersall (Danbury, Second Row), and Diana Valencia (Monmouth, 8man), with great composure from our pair of scrum halves and strong scrummaging from our 4 prop rotation.
