The Monmouth Renegades hosted the Rutgers Women on Saturday at Thompson Park.  Newly elected captains Amber Fischer and Kate Kelly lead the Renegades onto the pitch for the first contest of the Fall 2010 season.  The first half of the scrimmage was against an impressive Rutgers A-side.  Stand out flanker and captain, Heather Dauber lead the RU Women’s side that had plenty of talent and even more numbers.  The second half was an instructional match of mixed sides with Vets shadowing rookies.

Liz Kelly made her Official Monmouth debut which was short lived due to a breakfast that she saw twice that morning.  First time flanker Colleen Dwyer had some punishing hits at flanker and marked first time in with the forwards.  All in all it was a friendly match with familiar and familial faces.  Festivities continued at the Wilde Rover where the women resurrected from the grave “Fun” Hope Delia.

Next weekend the Rutgers women face Stony Brook at home and the Renegades are home against Brooklyn.
