Overall, Monmouth had mixed success for the day at the Harrisburg 7s tournament. The men got off to a slow start but managed to come away with a 17-14 win again Harrisburg II and then rally from a 12-0 half time deficit to win 15-12 against the Hibernians. In the final pool match, Monmouth lost 21-15 to Lehigh Valley after giving away a try at full time off a steal from the ruck. The 2-1 record was good enough to earn a spot in the quarterfinals against eventual runner-up Old Gaelic side. Monmouth held strong through the first half and put in a try start the second to make it 14-5 to but then let it get away with 3 late Old Gaelic tries for a final score of 31-5.
The Renegades dropped their first match to a tough Keystone side but rallied to with their two next two matches against BiBB and Shippensburg to finish 2-1 in pool play. With only 4 spots in the bracket, the women finished outside of the final 4 after tiebreakers.
Thanks to eveyone who made the trip and let’s build on this experience and bring home some hardware before the end of the summer.
