Monmouth Renegades hosted the Rutgers Women on Saturday in a friendly scrimmage to prepare Rutgers for their trip to Nationals on April 17th. The first half was a competitive match against a very impressive Rutgers first XV. Hope Delia started the scoring early in the first half to make it 5-0. Rutgers did come storming back with several rolling Mauls and evened the score up at 5-5. Standout forward Liz Hussey than punched in two tries bringing the score to 15-5 before the Rutgers fly half answered with a nice drop goal from 22 meters out to make it 15-8 at half. Kate Kelly ended the scoring against the Rutgers starters to make it 20-8 early in the second half. Rutgers than brought in most of their developmental squad. The second half was all Monmouth with an additional 24 points being scored by Colleen Dwyer (2 tries), Katie Tarsiewicz (1) and Dee Pollack (1). Notable performances by several key rookies including 3 giant runs from Avery Morris, solid play from Drea Adams at hooker and very impressive center Katie Tarsiewicz.
