Men’s D2 put Morris away early

On Saturday, Monmouth Men’s D2 took on Morris in Denville NJ. Monmouth, coming off a hard fought win the previous week, was able to keep the ball rolling beating Morris 50-14 in an impressive performance. Monmouth started the scoring early and never looked back with an early try from Chris Duffy, who made quite the impact in his first game back with the club scoring twice. The pack used the maul early and often at the line out to set the tone for the game, successfully mauling for two tries on the day.  The pack looked remarkable all day with open field play and with linking with the backs. The backs also impressed in various ways with Delaware touching down for a nice score. Chris Ciraolo also added to the score sheet twice, the first on a great grubbed put through by mike Dorata that Chris was able to beat the wing across from him and touch the ball down in the try zone. The second was off of a nice link between forwards and backs to finish a try from beyond the 22. Nick lynch had another notable day, as always, running with great pace and attacking the opposing line setting up some great off loads for the support around him. Other try scorers include Ryan Greenwood on a nice turnover ball that turned into a 35 meter scramble for a try in the corner. Mario Fragile added a nice drive through a few defenders for a 12 meter try. And Billy “Bootstraps” Van Bramer added the finishing touch scoring in the corner after a series of nice passes. Monmouth’s defense was solid all day, besides two assignment errors, but looked dominant otherwise. It was a good day for Monmouth with both D2 and D3 flexing their muscles with two winds. Monmouth hope to continue their good play next weekend home against Bayonne.
