Thank you to all who braved the weather to celebrate another Monmouth Day bash! A huge thank you to Vice President Alex Rumsey for an outstanding job of planning and managing the event while adapting to the weather and schedule change (not to mention playing 80+ minutes of rugby). Congratulations to Rob Morello and Jeff Kaltenbach who were honored with their induction into the Monmouth Rugby Hall of Fame. Also congratulations to Matt Crumedy and Val Rogers as recipients of the 2017 Tom Tani Presidents Awards for outstanding service to the club. There are too many additional people to thank from the executive board to Ken Pape and the Wilde Rover Committee to Ken Molina and the grill team for an amazing meal. Most importantly thank you to all of the players, coaches, alumni, fans, friends, and family who continue to live out the #morethanaclub values year round!
On the field, it is difficult for a full recap but Monmouth went 4-0 on the day starting with the Renegades grinding out a big win against Union, followed by domination from the Renegades D1 and Men’s D2 sides against Brooklyn and Jersey Shore and finally a hard fought win from Monmouth D3 over Brooklyn, aided by a late charge from some surprisingly spry alumni. I wish I had the full scores but all I need to say is a lot to a little in favor of Monmouth!
Next big ticket on the Monmouth schedule is Monmouth 7s: Showdown at the Shore Vol V on June 17th!
