After a well deserved Bye week, the Monmouth Men’s D2 and D3 sides headed north to Bayonne looking to finish strong in the fall season.  In the opening match of the day, Monmouth Men’s D3 took on Brooklyn.  The match showcased some strong individual performances and great team intensity for 80 minutes but ultimately fell short.  Unfortunately momentary lapses in the defense led to long runs and points on the board for Brooklyn.  However several of our developing players and rookies put in big hits and hard runs as they build into the final match of the fall against Princeton.  Brian Frayco earned Man of the Match honors.

The Men’s D2 finished the day with a 25-22 triumph over Bayonne, avenging an early season loss and tightening the standings.  Captain Andrew Poulson returned to the pitch with big hits and a try off a 5 meter scrum drive.  The forwards absolutely dominated the set pieces stealing multiple line-outs and overpowering the Bayonne scrum.  Ryan Puck opened the scoring with a break through the centers and Frank Bricker powered his way to another score.  Nick Lynch earned man of the match honors with 2 tries, the first off a pick following a Rich Cicalo break and later in the second half on a grub kick from flyhalf Pete Terilli.

Monmouth closes out the season this Saturday in Princeton.  D3 kicks off at 1PM D2 follows at 3PM
