Under the leadership of first year rugby coach and Monmouth Hall of Famer Robbie Morello, the Renegades are looking to defend their Division 1 Empire Championship. This fall brought four starters’ season-ending injuries, three opponent forfeits, and plenty of opportunities for new and inexperienced players to step up. Throughout all the chaos and bad luck, the Renegades are still heading into Empire Playoffs as the number 1 seed.
This weekend they will host Danbury at Thompson Park at 1pm for the semi-finals. The Renegades are looking forward to advancing to the finals on November 11th, where they would play the winner of Village Lions v Brooklyn.
Following the Empire competition, the women continue their fall season by competing in an invite-only elite national tournament. They are the first Empire team ever invited! This November they will travel to Virginia and the spring will take them to Texas in March and Monmouth will then host 3 teams in April. These games will give the Renegades the opportunity to play elite D1 rugby which will help them on their road to nationals.
